Happiness:Finding your Heart's Desire
by Yukio Phillips

''Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart.'' Psm 37:2(NIV)

Have you heard the song UnPretty before? UnPretty was the national anthem for women when it was first released by the music group TLC. The song talks about a woman who looks outside herself for happiness. In her relationship, her partner makes her feel worthless. She realizes if she looked inside herself for happiness, she would know her value and not let it be defined by her partner.

How often do you look outside yourself to find happiness?

The very thing you crave from the other person is the one gift you need to give yourself.

During my marriage, I craved the attention of my husband. I didn't realize that the very thing I craved, led me to endure and allow abuse for over 3 years.

So I ask you again, what are you craving in your life?

Is it more attention, acknowledgment that you are valuable; you can have what you crave, when you look within to embrace the why.

I mentioned the above scripture because delighting in a power that is higher than ourselves, is the way to get your cravings met. That verse took me a long time to understand. The Power that created you, knows what is missing.

Think of it like the chef that knows the secret ingredients to your favorite dish.

As much as you try and try to guess how to make it, it doesn't turn out like the original.

How do you discover your heart's desire?

Close your eyes and get still.

Allow yourself to release the thoughts that force its way into your mind for just a few minutes. After you clear your mind, ask yourself, what do you really want for your life?

The key to this exercise is to allow yourself to write down everything without blocking any ideas. Once written down, you will be amazed at what opportunities come your way.

Dare to apply this today, and you will change your tomorrow.
